Jyväskylä Sinfonia's inaugural season at Paviljonki is designed to be diverse, inviting and artistically ambitious. The programme includes numerous premieres, major works by great composers and unforgettable visits by conductors and soloists. To celebrate the new era, the orchestra's visual identity has also been redesigned down to the last detail. Many things are new, but the most important thing, the high quality of Jyväskylä Sinfonia’s music, remains strongly unchanged.

From the opening concert to megalomania

The opening concert of the spring season kicks off with two commissioned pieces with special guest Meta4. Central Finland composer Kirmo Lintinen and Anna Clyne, one of the most popular contemporary composers in the world today, have composed new works for the orchestra to celebrate the opening. The second half of the concert will see the launch of the much-awaited Sibelius Series, in which the Jyväskylä Sinfonia will perform all of Sibelius' symphonies over the coming years. Conductor Okko Kamu will lead the first of these at the opening con-cert.

Among the members of the Meta4 Quartet, we will also meet the violist Atte Kilpeläinen during the spring, who will lead a concert of Wagner's Angel in April. The soloist will be soprano Helena Juntunen, who will interpret the Wesendonck songs by Richard Wagner.

Future Chief Conductor Lorenzo Passerini to visit in April

Lorenzo Passerini, who will take up the position of Chief Conductor of Jyväskylä Sinfonia in autumn 2024, will visit the orchestra in early April to conduct a concert for all audiences as well as for eighth-grade Taidetestaajat. Pas-serini's concert will feature 12-year-old violin talent Lilja Haatainen as soloist.

The audience's favourite Olli Mustonen will be seen in the role of conductor in March, and the soloist will be Jyväskylä Sinfonia's flutist Aapo Järvinen. Mustonen continues the cycle of Beethoven symphonies with the most famous of them all, Symphony No 5.

The Easter concert celebrates the 80th birthday of composer Pekka Kostiainen, and will feature Triduum Paschale, which is already part of the city's Easter tradition. The concert in Taulumäki Church will be conducted by the new conductor talent Elisar Riddelin.

Rajaton interprets Abba and Diandra performs the hit songs of the divas

The hugely popular ABBA production by the vocal group Rajaton will finally take place in Jyväskylä twice on 21.–22.2. It will be 50 years in 2024 since the all-time pop group won the Eurovision Song Contest. The anniversary concert will feature the band's biggest disco hits, including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and Thank You for the Music, arranged by Jaakko Kuusisto.

Diandra, one of Finland's brightest artists, will visit Jyväskylä Sinfonia in May to perform a concert of hits by some of the world's biggest stars. The Music of Divas concert will feature stunning performances from Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Celine Dion and many other divas.

Whole family concerts in February and March

Maltti and Valtti, familiar from TV shows, join Jyväskylä Sinfonia on an adventure in February and solve life's big and small problems with the help of joyful music and humour. The whole family will enjoy the concert from baby to grandfather.

As a family, you could also enjoy the magical film tunes of the Movie Quiz concert in March. The evening will feature unforgettable tunes from films such as Jurassic Park, Mission Impossible, The Lion King and Supermarsu, and a movie quiz with conductor Marjo Riihimäki.

Double orchestras take over Encore's main stage twice this spring

The large stage in Paviljonki’s Encore hall now allows for two orchestras to perform together, and this can be enjoyed on two occasions during the spring season. The first is with Kuopio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Eugene Tzigane, the chief conductor of the orchestra, performing Gustav Mahler's massive Ninth Symphony.

In the final concert of the spring season in May, Jyväskylä Sinfonia will be joined on stage by St. Michel Strings with its principal conductor Erkki Lasonpalo. Sara Ferrández will be the soloist in the concert, and the main work will be Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade.

Tickets are now on sale

Jyväskylä Sinfonia’s season ticket will be now known as Tutti. The Tutti season ticket includes nine concerts du-ring the season from the best seats in the hall. Season ticket holders also enjoy a wide range of benefits, both on concert nights and from various partners.

A new feature is the Kvartetti series ticket, which gives you access to a concert once a month. The Kvartetti series ticket includes four different concerts, both symphonic and entertainment.
